The need for nurses is greater than ever right now. Many nurses are leaving their jobs, and because of this, patients will be left to suffer. People will not receive the care and treatments they need. Patients will need assistance, but no one will be available to help them. The demand for nurses today is crucial. Without nurses, too many people will suffer. As future nurses, it will be up to us to fill in those empty spots and care for patients. So just think to yourself, who will be there for you when you need help? Having the ability to touch the lives of people is an incredible thing. As future nurses, we will be there, and we will make a difference.
Nursing is to care, to love and to heal. To be a nurse, it takes compassion, dedication and love for others. As a nursing student, I thought being a nurse would give me the opportunity to be able to help other people and make a difference in their lives. However, with my love for children, becoming a nurse would only be a stepping stone to becoming a paediatric nurse. When my nephew was born, I always volunteered to help take care of him whenever I had the chance to see him. I loved how he would make the cutest faces and always come to me to play. I want to be a pediatric nurse because I feel that by making children smile and feel better each day, my future career as a nurse would be more rewarding.
My name is Katherine, and I am a first year nursing student at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology. I want to be a paediatric nurse because I love children. I enjoy dancing, drawing and painting in my spare time.
